Did you know?

• Jezera has won five blue flowers from the Croatian National Tourist Office for being the tidiest tourist destination

• Jezera is full of perculiar, authentic customs. One of them is the maritime ball dance - now organized by the Koledišće club, which dates back to the late 19th century. In 1911. was founded Socety of Sea farers which organized this custom to honour the first voyage of young sailor. Another interesting custom is Preperuše – an old tradition where children join in evoking the rain during dry months.

• On the small island of Kukuljar Vodeni, near Jezera, there is a drystone wall called "pirates" by the locals, because according to legend, any pirates who were killed by the inhabitants of the island of Murter would be buried here.

The legend of the name boduli (island inhabitants) comes during the Turkish invasion of the Croatian islands in 15th century. The Turks didn´t know how to swim, so they used the various tools. The islanders were formed into groups, led by the commander. On his command  "Buodi duoli!" (Bite down) they dived into the sea and pierced their tools with knives so they drowned. Surviving Turks escaped to their camps and spoked to ther commanders that they were defeated by those who yell "buo doli".
