Introduction to Betina
Betina is a typically picturesque traditional Mediterranean village, with a distinguished legacy of agriculture and shipbuilding. It has a community of farmers, shipbuilders, blacksmiths, fishermen, craftsmen, and is an increasingly popular tourist destination. The most well-known export and a symbol of Betina’s wooden shipbuilding industry are its boats: from the gajeta and the leut, to the trawlers and leisure boats. It is, however, also a village rich in atmosphere and experiences, and a popular venue for gatherings and events.
Examples of Betina’s quintessential beauty can be experienced first-hand by gazing at the sweeping panoramas; getting lost in her winding streets and squares; enjoying long walks through the countryside of Betina and Murter, and taking in the vistas from the surrounding hills. This leaves an indelible impression on the visitor, who is impelled to return again.
Betina: picturesque, quiet, discreet, traditional, with an attractive and intimate beauty, full of charm, authenticity, with historic and religious values. It is a tourist haven with a strong cultural and economic identity. It lies in the heart of the island of Murter, forming a chain of villages together with Tisno and Jezera.
The painter Grgo Gamulin described is as "the epitome of ancient architecture," and the writer Vjekoslav Kaleb remarked that Betina is “the ultimate romance”! Come visit!
